Within this past week, 8/24/17, we will have been on the farm for 4 years.
It has gone through many changes, from different names to renovations, to an increase in animals and what we do with the animals.
Webster defines animal husbandry as:
“branch of agriculture concerned with the production and care of domestic animals”
At this point, Shiloh’s Farm is about the care of the animals here and not the production of animals. Breeding is a whole other ballgame.
Though I have a long way to go, at the core of the care of my animals is love. No matter their purpose here, they will be cared for and loved well for the duration of their life.
We started with a goat and a sheep and now have 3 of each. 22 birds of differing varieties, honey bees, dogs and a cat. Let’s not forget Pat the bunny.
In the future we will breed goats for milk. But that is a huge task and we need to have the time and focus to do it well or not at all.
All that has been provided us has been from the Lord, so we need to do it well or not at all.
Thank you for your time!
