What’s in your box? Figuratively, realistically, or both.
I believe everyone has a box and they keep specific things in it. They could be good memories, special momentos, something wishing to be forgotten.
But what if you’ve put your faith in a box? Does your faith have boundaries? Does your faith have limits? What of your understanding of the things of God?
There is no judgement or condemnation. For Christ tells us that if we are in Him, there is no condemnation. So let’s open up or minds, our hearts, our box, and see what the Lord has in store for us.
I used a scripture a while back and was challenged as to its use. It was mentioned I used the scripture out of context and that it may be misleading to others.
The scripture in question is Matthew 24:36, and this is from the NASB translation:
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.”
Contextually, Jesus is having a conversation with His disciples about end times. Jesus has a lot to say here. I wrote because I was recently asked about the rapture and what I thought. I have very limited thoughts on the rapture and I used this Scripture in Matthew 24 and also Matthew 25 about the ten virgins and the five that were ready and the five that were not.
I never want to lead someone astray. I will be held accountable for my words and how I impact people. I always want someone to test what I say against the Word of God. I also won’t really debate, unless asked, quickly, unless there is a salvation issue at hand, as salvation is the bottom line and what is most important.
That said, Matthew 24:36 has a contextual meaning, and there is also a principle within it, that aligns with other scripture.
Isaiah 55:8-9
8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts.”
Ephesians 5:32
This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.
The things of God…
The principle in Matthew 24:36 is the absolute vastness of God, His character, His thoughts, the depth of His love, mercy, grace, forgiveness, long suffering. So when Christ says only the Father knows, this applies to more than we can ever fathom or hope to understand.
We have no idea and what we do know, God makes available to us and this is as close as we can get, and it is different for everyone, but I believe the potential is the same for everyone.
1 Corinthians 2:14-16
The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone’s judgment. “For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him?”But we have the mind of Christ.
Whether your name is Jack or not, it is time to jump out of your box. The spirit life has more for us than we could ever dream of or imagine. There is no time like the present, as if you haven’t noticed, the world is kind of falling apart. These are trying times, but exciting times as well, because He is coming.
Who you ask?
Christ our King.
