To cling

We just had a nice spring rain and a full rainbow and a partial double. Absolutely beautiful!

As I sit here, I notice what were four drops of water, now three, clinging from a branch. One fell.

It makes me think of John 15:5. This isn’t a perfect analogy by any means, but still there is so much here to contemplate and think about.

What appears to be just one drop of water is actually a collection of water that forms a drop. Not unlike us when we are in a community of Jesus believers. The water was covering the branch until it met with enough water to form a drop. Now there is mass. Now there is weight, where gravity is pulling it down onto the earth.

This is not unlike us, as individuals and potentially a community, where the things of the world pull us down and tries to get us to come to it and embrace it.

If it weren’t for the branch, the water would have fallen straight down into the earth and have been absorbed.

Isaiah 59:1 tells us the arm of the Lord is not too short to save.

But God. He is the One who catches us before we fall. Even if we do fall, and most have, the cycle of water typically sends it back up into the sky, to begin the cycle again. Much like God’s grace. Before we come absorbed into the world, we can fully rest in His salvation, peace, and grace.

Because of His great love for us.

Cling to the One who alone is worthy and saves.

Jesus is His name.
