Immanuel

The meaning of Immanuel is God with us.

It is used in the 1995 New American Standard Bible three times. Twice as prophecy in the book of Isaiah: Isaiah 7:10 and Isaiah 7:14, and once in the book of Matthew in chapter one, verse 23.

Our Father created a people in His own image that are sensory in nature. We have the sense of touch, sight, hearing, smell, and taste. Some even have the ability to sense the Spirit.

I mention these senses as we were able to use them when God was manifested in human form and with us, physically.

In the creation of the Garden and Adam and Eve, where the Word tells us God walked with them in the cool of the day, I imagine a Father who we can touch, smell, see, hear. Enter Jesus and here we have our Father walking with His people once again. We can see Him, hear Him, feel Him, smell Him. The Apostle John laid upon Jesus’s chest at the dinner table! John was able to feel the body heat of Jesus. Hear Jesus breath and feel His chest go up and down. John was able to smell Jesus!

Now we worship Jesus in spirit and in Truth, waiting for the day we will once again see Him, hear Him, feel Him, smell Him.

For now let us grow in our spirit to know Him better, to understand Him better, and taste and see that the Lord is truly good.
