Privilege + perception = reality

My perception is impacted by my white privilege, and both help to support my reality.

I was laying in bed the other night revisiting a conversation with a dear friend of mine who is a black pastor. She has buried more brothers and sisters this year than she can remember. I could hear the weight in her voice.

This is not the first conversation I’ve had like this with other friends this year.

As I revisited our conversation, my brain took me to those who beat the drum of freedom, our rights, and our lack of liking being told what to do and how to do it.

For me, my privilege provides me more choices and more of a voice towards those choices. I have a level of support and resources many do not.

People who have a different pigmentation of their skin and or different heritage, may not have that.

They may very well have a dyer lack of resources, lack of respect, and lack of being part of a larger community that could potentially help to provide for the needs of others. In short, they do not have the privilege that I do.

This is the time for the first century church, where we don’t beat drums, saying let us live life; but

we buy, sell, and give as others have need.

My privilege has clouded my perspective for years, and I cannot allow it to be like that any longer.

I am willing to give of my rights, my freedoms, and use my voice, to the benefit of those around me that may not be privileged.

I am not so ignorant to think this season hasn’t impacted people of privilege either. Businesses, personal lives, every aspect of this earthly life has been shaken.

Why do you suppose that everything has been shaken?

This world has been turned over to satan, read the Bible. Satans plans are to kill and destroy, your life, your hope, your faith.

Faith in Jesus, the only Life, the only Hope, and the Author and Finisher of our faith.

This is the season to seek Jesus while He may be found. To abide in Him so that we bear fruit that is eternal, and stand upon the foundation of our faith who is Christ Himself.

All else is fleeting, but the things of Jesus and His finished work on the cross.

Seek FIRST His Kingdom, and all these things will be given unto you.

Love God with all you have and love your neighbor as yourself.
