Faith and Farming

The past two days have been beautiful.

Monday I helped our friends, the Stoltzfus’s, bring in hay on their new farm. I brought our new to us hay wagon, (it’s been around quite sometime), and we started to bring in small square hay bales. Once the wagon was fully loaded, a rear tire blew out in the middle of the field.

We brought out their large flat bed trailer with their tractor and loaded it up and took it to the barn. They had borrowed a hay elevator, which carrie’s hay up to the loft. We plugged it in and got one bale up to the loft and it quit working.

We then put a pallet on a forklift and got 6-8 bales, unloading by hand, into the loft. It was slow, but it worked.

The weather was great. The view was glorious. mountains and a sunset. God’s glory everywhere.

Working along side Mel, Verna, and their six children ranging in age from 4-18, was joyful. Despite the challenges.

It was one of the most beautiful experiences I have experienced in some time.

Tuesday I pulled the tire off the wagon and took it to Blue Mountain Auto, which Mel recommended. A husband and wife couple works there. What a beautiful couple that believe in Jesus.

We had such a wonderful and fun conversation about our lives, learning about each other’s family.

I left with a full cup.

I went to Mel’s home to check in and see how they were doing. He needed a ride to a chiropractor, so I offered. This man is such a pleasure to be around.

People from two different cultures and ways of life brought together deeply, mostly because of the one thing we have in common.

We have experienced the love of Jesus and seek Him.

This is just the last two days. We have many other stories that are similar in how our Father is weaving our lives together with other people of faith and farming in this area.

It is deeply beautiful and Jesus is filling my heart with love and joy for this community.

It is overwhelmingly beautiful.
