state of the union

As I see the state of our nation and the world around us grow more and more depraved it leaves a pit in my stomach.

The only thing I have found that is adequate enough to fill this pit is God’s word and prayer.

A paraphrase of John 17:16 tells us to be in the world, but not of the world.

Much like the Israelites of the Old Testament, they were told to conquer the inhabitants of their promised land. This seems pretty harsh, yes, but God also knew that if they did not, they would be influenced in a way that would not glorify God.

So, though we are not to conquer our neighbor, we are to love them as ourselves.

That, however, is putting the cart before the horse.

The commandment prior to that one is to love the Lord our God, pretty much with everything we have and are!  These are found in Matthew 22.

Why is this so very important?

Because many people are betting on people on Nov. 8th when they should be believing in the One our Father in heaven sent.

I’m not saying to vote or not to vote, but by keeping a vertical gaze  it will help to keep you from stumbling while walking horizontally.
